Why do I need to allow Philips Lighting as a system extension when installing the Philips Hue Sync app on my Mac?

The Philips Hue Sync app needs to listen to your audio in order to create a lightscript based on the content you are listening to. When allowing Philips Hue Sync (named Philips Lighting) access it will be installed as an official system extension. Note that this only applies to audio. Not accepting Philips Lighting as extension means you are not able to use the audio mode in Philips Hue Sync on your Mac.
