3 ways to extend the comfort of your home outdoors

    Meet Matt Blashaw

Relax into your space with Hue outdoor smart lighting. We’ve teamed up with TV host, landscaping expert, and realtor Matt Blashaw to refresh the front of your home, deck, or patio by implementing a few of his best outdoor smart lighting secrets.

Brighten the front of your home

Hue smart lights on the front of your home will greet guests as well as add visual drama and color to boost its curb appeal.

•To create an inviting walkway, install Calla bollards. For the perfect amount of coverage, space out your pathway lighting about 6 feet.

•To define the yard and illuminate the front of the home, swap out the lights around your front door for our Econic collection. For a simple but stunning effect, add Lily spotlights to your planters and garden beds.

    Light a deck or patio

Outdoor spaces like decks or patios can be easily transformed into a cozy corner to relax in or a place to dine al fresco. For a 'softer' look, indirect lighting is key along  with the right choice of smart lights and accessories.

•Add outdoor lightstrips under a deck railing, shade structure or roof line.

•To illuminate the space, highlight plants and trees, as well as balance your landscape lighting and the overall ambiance, place Lily spotlights or Calla bollards in your planters or garden beds along the deck or patio.

Illuminate your backyard by defining spaces

Make your large backyard feel like an intimate and colorful oasis. When lighting a large outdoor space, focus on lighting elements that are closer to your living area, and add visual appeal by using strategically placed spotlights throughout.

•Use Outdoor Lighstrips or Calla bollards on the pathways that closely interact with your main living space. For trees and shrubs in the far distance, add more lights between those elements and your living area – and space them out.

•Pick a few trees or plants you want to highlight, then decide how to light them: Lighting from the front will enhance their natural texture and cast a silhouette behind. To create a dramatic look, install the Lily spotlight at the rear of a tree.
