To keep up with the ever-evolving Philips Hue experience, we’re focusing on giving you more features, better security and faster functionality with the Hue Bridge v2 – while simultaneously phasing out Hue Bridge v1 support by 30 April 2020.
The Hue Bridge is the brain of your Philips Hue smart lighting system. Transitioning from Hue Bridge v1 to Hue Bridge v2 unlocks various features not currently available to Hue Bridge v1 users.
If you currently use a Hue Bridge v1, don’t worry – it will continue to control your existing Hue lights, but with limited functionality: download the Philips Hue Bridge v1 app to turn your lights on and off, set colours and use routines and timers while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.
You can control your Hue lights while connected to your local Wi-Fi network, but away-from-home control will no longer be supported.
Voice assistants that function via cloud connection, such as Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant, will not work with the Hue Bridge v1.
The Hue Bridge v1 will no longer receive updates with new features and security patches.
Hue Bridge v1 users will need to download the Bridge v1 app for continued control of their Hue lights.
