What is the out of the box, default behavior of the Hue motion sensor?

The default behavior of the Hue motion sensor is automatically defined during setup, the only thing you need to select with the Philips Hue app  during installation is the room.

Each room type has smart default settings, defined to ensure the best experience with the Hue motion sensor for that type of room.

Each of these default settings can be easily personalized using the Philips Hue app.

By default, when you enter the room, all lights in the room turn on to a bright functional light during the day and a nightlight during the night. Both the timeframes and scenes can be easily personalized using the Philips Hue app.

By default, the lights in a room turn off when there is no motion detected for the time-out period defined per type of room. This period can be personalized using the Philips Hue app.

The lights dim 30 seconds before the lights turn off, to prevent you suddenly sitting in the dark when you are not moving or are out of detection range of the sensor. Within these 30 seconds you can move which will restore the lights to the same setting as before dimming and automatically restart the time-out period. The 30 seconds cannot be adapted using the Philips Hue app.
